FUCHS / Style
1981 911sc.
I have the black center fuchs. I like them this way but often wonder what it would be like to remove the Black. Can the Black be stripped off? What is under the Black? Tx for any comments john |
Under the black paint is the anodised alloy, as came off the forging process, i.e. not polished like the lip before anodisation. Very nice "raw" look, with a somewhat "marbled" appearance.
Beware, Some Fuchs have paint on the center that is incredibly tough, almost impossible to remove, even with the best paint stripper. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/99.08_15.jpg GeorgeK |
thanks!
Any suggestion of what stripperto use? john |
Any good paint stripper would do. i went to my friendly body shop and asked what they used. Bought a canister right away.

FWIW ... George is undoubtedly the 'King of Fuchs Restorers!'
In a March thread, he showed us an amazing transformation of a set of 911R wheels some might have sent to a recycling center ... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/63603-rim-resto-long.html |
Yep - George is the King - I was inspired by his efforts and had a crack at it myself.
Lotsa work but lotsa reward. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71012&highlight=anodisi ng |
