82 CIS into a 75
 

Title says it all, for the CIS experts, can I fit an 82 complete system from a SC into a '75 911S. I suspect I can delete a few items from the 82 system, but would the basic systems work?
I have been on the CIS Primer and from what I can tell the WUR is the main missing piece on the '75. I realize '75 was a bit of a bastard child in terms of specific details. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it can. If you own a 75 and do not already have and engine, I would shop for a 3.2 with motronic.

Don't delete anything from the '82 CIS, figure out how to wire it all in. I just helped someone require their '77 to run a '78, just a few wiring changes is all it took.

If you get a complete system from an 82, you will get its WUR so no worries there, however the '75 did come from the factory with a WUR.

If you are looking at deleting items from the 82 Lambda, it's not going to function properly. You don't want to start with a working 82 and go backwards deleting the parts which it needs to work.

Maybe a 3.2 would make more sense.

like Jim said, you need the relay and ECU (which I believe controls the frequency valve) from under the passenger seat and the associated wiring harness to make it work properly. it will run like crap and lean if you don't have the FV working.

Ok, sounds like I need to pass on this one ($300 from a PP member) and stay on the hunt for a mid-year version. thank you for all the help!

Installing a late CIS engine in your '74 has been done many many times before. So there is no problem doing it again. The main difference would be the CDI (3 pin to 6 pin), installing a FP relay to make use of the AFS switch, relocating the FP from engine bay to the front (near gas tank), revising the fuel return line, and a few minor wiring re-configurations. You also need the correct ECU and complete wire engine harness if you plan to make use of the lambda (OXS) system. However, these late SC's engine could be run without ECU/OXS but would require further tuning. And at this point, I would advise against running it without the ECU/FV relay to make the project a simple one.
