Original color of a 911 E
He
Is there a way to know wich was the orignal color of a white 911 E Targa m.y.1971 knowing the chassis number? (911 121 0529). I got the certify from Porsche but this information is not present Thanks

No paint tag. Don't know if in 1971 there was the decal on the door

It's not a decal, it's a metal tag riveted to the driver's door hinge post. If it is missing, then someone removed it, probably to repaint the car. 1971 911's definitely had those tags on the chassis.

you might go back to Porsche and ask them to check again, as they should have this info
you can check with the DMVs of each state any PO registered it in as the color will be iin their files; even traffic tickets could be searched (for a fee; for a ways back) the good news is you can now paint it whatever color you want you may be able to buy new paint tags or to get one off a wreck |

It is very odd that the certificate did not include the paint information; after all, that is what you are paying for when you get the certificate. There can be instances where the paint was a custom color and the information is not recorded, but then they should state that it is so. If the factory has no record, and the tag is missing, then all you can do is look for traces of the original paint.
