Electric roof mod
Can I somehow disconnect a wire that stops my cab top from being raised while the engine is running.
I'm getting real sick of turning off the engine and putting up the roof when a sudden shower enters my path. I'd really like to be able to pull over, hit the raise button and get on with where I'm going, instead of pulling over, shutting down, raising the roof and then starting up again. It's only a little annoyance but it is just that...an annoyance! I know it's there to safe guard the 'goose' who tries to raise his/her roof while driving ![]() Thanks in advance for any advice or opinions. Cheers Mark |

G'day Mark.
How'd ya go with this? Seems like a good option...... and then maybe hook into a speed limiter .....somethingarother, just to be safe. ![]()

Mate..got no where with this mod.....
actually got sidetracked by the photos of the Melb. Pelican Run ![]() You may have seen in an earlier thread I was having problems with hot wires in my 87. So I have to slowly follow all the wiring around the car trying to find the sources of several gremlins. First I found (with help of guys here) that some of my fuses were corroded, next an air con blower was causing resistance leading to real hot wires, the cab top won't lock down on the passenger side, I lost a left headlight and left licence plate light AND.......... I the car has just fallen out of insurance due to a 300% increase ![]() Anyhow back to your question...sorry... Theres a white/red wire running from the speedo to the convertible top control unit (post 1) and a red/yellow from the speedo to the indicator lamp. These will be my two guesses of wires to skip out of the system, but I think I need an electrician to look at the wiring diagram in the Bentley to confirm my thoughts. Theres' also a red/yelow wire going from the indicator lamp to the toggle switch for the top retraction which might have some part to play! So there you have it. I think they're the only choices to work on. Other problem holding me back is the damn heat (humidity) an typhoons coming thru here. I have a carport not a garage so its not too inviting working under the dash at the moment. Right now I wish I was driving GOR with you guys. Insanely jealous. I'll keep you posted - maybe by pm. I actually got home yesterday and saw a catalog from a competitor. As I was flipping through there was something for exactly what you describe. With this kit, you can lower the top on the move up to 25 mph. It was also about $600! I'm not sure why as it didn't look like much.
