16x9/16x7 on a long hood with flares?

So, I backdated a '75 that already had Carrera flares and am trying to figure out what to do with wheels. I've ended up with an assortment of wheels and have several concerns.

I have 15x7 and 15x8 fuchs that I'm running.
I also have 16x7 and 16x8s or 16x7 and 16x9s.

I really like the low look of the 15s with the flares and short hood look, but the car is really low.
I like the contact patch of the 16x9s in the rear, but wonder if they really ever get up to temp.

This particular car will be a hot rod street car, and see track duty several times a year.

Another problem I have is at the current low ride height, the suspension is almost bottomed out. It looks good, and handles well, but any slight bump causes it to bottom out up front. On the track it is fine, except in rough rumble strip encounters.

So I guess I have two questions. Recommendations on the front end (altered strut body, or shortened shock) to increase travel.

as well as real world experience with the various wheel sizes.

You may want to post a picture and measure the height from the wheel wells to the ground.
My '71 measures 24" front and 23.5" rear.
I can run this low because, I have 22 and 30mm torsions, raised spindles in the front, and I avoid bumpy roads.
I am running 7 and 8" x 16" wheels with either 225f and 245r or 205f and 225r.

9" wheels will ususally fit the rear on SCs and Carreras, depending. I'm not sure if the 9s are worth it depending on what tires you plan on running.

BTW I hate the way my car handles on the street with the 225s on the front.
