Brand new engine lids.. available?
1985 car.
Are new engine lids still available? My Woman backed up into my car. Smallish, but decent sized dent in lower left corner of lid. License plate cover shattered. Paint cracked. Lid not seating properly. So.. new lids? This was a pristine car with 50,000 miles.

Sorry to hear. I don't know if new are available, but I think there are several similar vintage vehicles being parted in the "used parts" sections.
Pelican is offering fiberglass (I don't see steel on the website): Porsche 911 Chassis Panels & Sheet Metal - Page 2 |

Yes, paint cracked.
Too dark to take a good pic right now. Might be able to get one tomorrow.. white car, so may be difficult. Dent is right at the curved part of the bottom of the lid. Right in the middle of the curve. I did find that new lids are apparently available. Part oem-91151201065grv. $1132.50 She will buy a new lid and have it painted.

Oh geez, nevermind, why not just have it worked so the rest of it will be the original paint?
Lol, SHE will pay? Really? You forgot, her money is her money, your money is her's :P Marriage Bliss. Well, no more baby jealousy for awhile, huh?

If the damaged one is beyond repair, you can get a good used lid for a couple hundred bucks, and then properly finished and color-matched for about $500. I don't really see any reason you need a brand new lid.

Brand new engine lids...available
Just had mine replaced due to some nimrod rear ending me. Restoration people got it directly from Porsche (via a dealer). I will have to check, but I am sure it was not cheap. Mine is an '87 Carrera Cab.

OMG, I would have ringed her neck, not where the engine is, anything but that!?!
![]() I got rear ended once and my heart just dropped, what made me more furious was when the couple in the car started to laugh. I stopped that crap immediately while scolding them and luckily nothing happened, thankfully my bumper struts worked as designed . I was seeing red there for a brief momment, Freakin meth heads.Yeah, thought it was the hood, damn...

One thing I forgot to mention is that the gray label stuck to the underside, which describes the catalytic converter, etc., is no longer available. If anyone knows how to get one it would be well appreciated.

Pictures... really, really hard to photograph because it's so white.
There is a scuff behind the bent portion of the license plate, as well. Doesn't appear to be dented, may buff out. This 28 year old paint had zero visible flaws when cleaned and waxed at 3 feet. Zero.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I checked on the website of one of the more active Porsche dealers who sell OEM PCNA parts mail order and they want $1,019 for a brand new decklid. In keeping with the tradition of not offending our host, I can only confirm that you can get the part. As others have suggested, you will probably be pretty happy with a good decklid from a used car of that vintage but if you want to spend the other $800 or so, you should be able to buy the part.

We found them at out local dealership for $880. I was suprised, really was hoping to give our host some money. We'll see what Eurotech can come up with though. Wonder if they can meet it.

Why not get a PDR guy a call then get the spot painted...seriously, I know your not happy about it but I would save that lid and the paint on it.

new deck lid will likely equal Chinese stamped and Chinese steel - I would vote for used and the real thing if needed

wow - that's it?
And you want to replace the whole cover? A good body guy can fix and paint that, and you'd never know it's there. And the paint isn't even tough. It's white. Not some crazy metallic. White. Waste of money to replace the whole thing.
