Max advance @ 6000 RPM for an 80SC 3.0l?

Does anyone have this spec near by? Did not see anything specifically to my motor doing a search. My car seems to like the advance, takes out the flat spots thru the RPMs. Don't want to go too far, tho... Currently at about 9-10 degrees at idle with vaccum hoses disconnected.

Thanks much

Factory spec for mine is 5 degrees BTDC with vacuum disconnected. When JW timed my engine he left the hoses connected, and just timed it at 35 degrees BTDC when fully advanced. He says most P-engines like this. If it pings, then back it off a bit.

It did not ping. When I disconnected the vacuum, it seems to be set at about 12 degrees BTDC. Runs great. I've since tried backing it off to factory spec, but it runs better where JW set it. And no pinging.

.....yes, you are a Super Man! Thanks dood! I was also wondering if I could just time to max advance...you got that one as well. I'll be mixing in some 100 octane, so hopefully I won't have to deal with the pinging at all.

cheers
