NOS find at Junktique store

Maybe a bit off-topic but the 1974 YOM license plates on the '74 were getting in sad shape. i.e.: Stone chips, a lot of rust , and small dents in particular in the front plate.

Had been keeping an eye out for replacements but most I found were as bad as the ones I already had. Wandered into a local Antique? shop and lo and behold, 3 sets of never issued 1974 TX plates. They even still had the original tissue paper between the plates. I didn't even bargain, just gave the lady a $20 and walked out with a set. Now just to get them registered with the DMV and should be set for many years:

Absolutely. TX allows you to put YOM plates on any car 25 years old or older. You just have to get the DMV or Tax Assessor to verify the plates real, are in good condition and have no other issues and fill out the application for classic license plates.. and pay the annual registration fee.

Might be a TX-only rule.

I do know CA started collecting blue and black vintage plate reservations. But 7500 must order before they start production.

The only thing TX is interested in license plate wise is the money. You want a valid TX license plate with the University of Alabama logo and "Roll Tide Roll" printed on it? No problem, just go to MyPlates.com - Our Plates are street legal and officially licensed by Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and you can literally design your own license plate. Want your plates to the purple and gold, no problem....

Here in Georgia we can run year of manufacture plates for pre 1970 vehicles. I've got old plates on all my 60's cars.
