Replacing Key Head 1984 Carrera

I've searched but haven't found my answer. I want to replace the old key head on my ignition key. How does they actual key section come out of the head or insert into the new head? I don't want to just use brute force if it's not needed, but I don't see any catch or other mechanism when I open up the key head.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't have the ability to post a photo, but it's the standard five sided key head with the Porsche emblem on one side and the push button for the light on the other side. No automatic locking or other features.

I will try to learn how to post pics someday (I promise!).

Since you are replacing it, do not worry about marring or breaking the old one. Just take careful note how the copper contacts are seated the reassemble it, the key is squeezed/pressed into the new head.
