				 | Oil Cooler Line Crimp
I saw in a earlier posting that a member had a "crimp" in the oil cooler line (flowing to the cooler) at the 90 degree bend just below the thermostat. I too have a "crimp" in that line at the bend. It DOES NOT look to have been damaged by a jack or poor driving technique. It almost looks like it was put there on purpose...? It's about the same size and shape of your thumb. Anyone have any info? I don't want to have something "fixed" that was put there for a reason.... | ||

Just had my oil line replaced for the same reason. The service station where I have some of my work done made a small faux pax when jacking my car up last month. There was no dent in the oil line before this and the new oil line is a smooth bend. Both rocker panels, and the bottom oil line were "bitten" by the floor lift, and I was very lucky that both the manager and myself saw it while it was still on the lift. There was no doubt when and where the damage occured. $1700 in repairs later and the car is back to normal, but its has not been fun. I could have lived with the dent in the oil line but why? Porsche did not put a dent there when they made it so lets put it back to stock. Sure sounds like your cars have gotten "bitten" in the same manner as mine. The oil line alone is not cheap ($300 or so) and the big worry is that the fitting on the thermostat will come loose without galling the threads on the housing. Good luck! I had no temp problems with the restriction in the oil flow, (my dent is not real big, approx 3/8th of an inch deep) but did not want to leave it this way, as its just not worth the chance that days, weeks, years later it might crack and strand me somewhere, especially when their insurance was paying for the repair.
