1989 911 car alarm, fog light malfunction?

Driving the car today, pulled the foglight control during the day with the lights off. Immediately, the car alarm goes off. Pulled over embarrassed and tried to find a fuse to pull with no luck. After driving my shiny red 911 past my kids highshool with the alarm blaring (look at me!), the alarm gradually stopped. After getting home, I found I could not shut off the fogs. Found the fog fuse which was very hot and pulled it. I'm thinking there is a short and the fogs are tied into the alarm when its tripped, but was wondering if anyone ever had this scenario. Other then not having fogs now, it seems ok.

Thanks!

Did a check and the brake lights are on also in the back, again must be connected to the alarm. Disconnected the neg cable for now.
