the 10th annual porsche club swap meet sponsored by the pacific NW region of the PCA, and john walker's workshop, will be saturday, august 10th, 8am-2pm, in north seattle, at the lower parking lot of the phinney neighborhood center, 1/2 block east of N67th and phinney ave n. in the phinney ridge area. it's all free. just get there about 7am if you are going to sell stuff, so you can have time to set up. the more sellers the better, there's always lots of buyers. clean out the garage, make some money and have fun. see you there! any questions, call jw at 206 789 6800, or e/mail jwworkshop@aol.com.
off interstate 5, take the N85th st exit, go west to highway 99 (aurora ave), take a left (south), and go to N67th st, take a right 3 1/2 blocks to the site.

A lot of us have been waiting patiently for this great event.
Hope to see the usual crowd of Seattle area guys and their cars. Don't miss it....we have lots of shoppin', swappin', bull-s****in', and beer-drinkin' (after the meet) to do. ![]()

Oh Man! Why couldn't you wait until the next Saturday when I'll be in Seattle. I fly in on the 14th and on the 17th I have some free time, would have been perfect.

not much progress on the bugster. just getting the rear hubs in position so the a arms and rear frame can be made. damn customer cars are keeping me from my projects.
you could have a swap meet in minnesota if you got it going. there was none in seattle until i decided to do it, and now it's expected every year. just arrange to use a parking lot for the day and advertize in a couple of local papers, and send flyers out to all the shops, etc.

Hi John...in addition to the reserved space for sellers, will there be an area for Porsche parking, or are we on our own for that?
Also would you like this posted to the big 356 Registry email list...(will there be any 356 stuff for sale) ? Thanks!

JW has got this event dialed.
There is quite a bit of parking at the community center for shoppers. The parking area turns into a veritable show and shine, with some pretty nice cars driven in. As far as 356 goodies are concerned, last year I saw quite a few. There was even a decent '65 SC Coupe for sale.

as with any swap meet, you never know what's going to show up. some days chicken, some days feathers. there's always a lot to pick thru though. anybody who wants to sell their leftovers is welcome. there are no "reserved" spaces, just 1st come first served. it's all free. for sellers, the trim items usually tend to sell better than heavy mechanical stuff, although if priced right, the heavy stuff sells too. people are always looking for interior parts, lenses, chrome trim, wheels, literature, rubber, maybe a rust free fender or door, spoilers, or even a whole car project.

And to think....the R69 (and then, the R69S) were considered the "performance" bikes of their time. That's just a bit before Mr. S. Honda got his act going.

Hmmmmm... can I convince Erin that we reaaaaaallly need to be in Seattle on or around the 10th of August??
I still want to meet you guys! It may be possible! Funny you guys started mentioning old Bimmer motorcycles. One of the things my dad wants me to have in his '72 R75. I love that bike... so classy. It is red with upgraded brakes, pipes, and saddlebags. My parents bought it new and have put 70K on the odo by touring all over Europe on it and such. Let me talk to the misses tonight about maybe hitting the road again to come up for a quick visit to make up for the bad timing of the roundup.

Lee:
One of my first BMWs was a late-'73 extended wheelbase 75/5. Now if you can shift a /5 gearbox silently the 915 is a breeze! It was quite a bike: Heinrich tank, S-style seat/cowl, Oschner rearsets, full hard bags. It is one of those "Sorry I sold it" bikes. The "toaster tank" /5s are quite desirable today. The R69 not so much I am thinking. They were pretty much the gentlemen's machine what with the 45hp and Earles forks for high comfort riding. Maybe I'll ride the R69 over and see what you guys think. John
