Shift knob adapter?
Hi guys, I installed a Rennshift shifter on my 69 911E, I have a 901 and did not want to go with the Wevo as I would have to buy a 915 shifter base.
I did purchase a Wevo press fit shift knob, how do i install it on my Rennshift column which has female threads? Any ideas, If not I will machine something. Regards John |
could you not use a tap on the shift knob?

According to the JWest website their shifter is set up to use their shift knob or a factory shift knob. That WEVO shift knob is set up to mimic the stock knob/crush sleeve combo. Double check the diameters of your new vs. old shifters. It sounds like you can just install the Wevo shift knob with the crush sleeve just like you would install it on a factory shifter. -J

I am bumping this thread up as I have the same issue. A threaded Wevo shifter with a press on knob with the crush sleeve.
Anyone have a solution? |
I bought a stainless steel bolt with the same threads as the lever and used 5 minute epoxy to secure the head of the bolt inside the knob ( it’s a turned 917 style wood knob) used a stainless steel washer to keep the wood from getting crushed on the shaft. Less than $3 at Home Depot and it looks perfect.
