checking head studs
 

After reading all about the SC problems with cylinder head studs in this forum, I got scared & want to check if everything is all right in my car (1978 SC). Is it sufficient to check studs underneath the lower valve covers for the SC? Do I have to drain engine oil first (I just changed it)?

you can do 1 side at a time by jacking either side up with minimal oil drainage. jack up the side you're checking then secure with jackstands (of course), be sure and replace the gaskets/locking nuts EVERY time you remove the covers to keep them from leaking. email for a cheap gasket contact.
