First valve adjustment....

Hello all. After a year of ownership, I have decided to take the plunge and attempt my first oil change and valve adjust. Armed with Wayne's tech article, Bentley's, archive data and you all I hope to make it through to the other side.

Today I prepped(sp?). I removed the air box, a/c unit, jacked up the car and removed the oil and filter. After about a 1/2 hour I noticed a small pool of oil on the floor located just inside the right rear wheel. I checked but could not see the source.

My feeling is that when I removed the oil filter, some oil leaked out and moved toward the front of the car along the bulkhead due to the rear being on jack stands.Newton took effect and the oil found an exit down one of the oil or a/c lines, I'm not sure which ones are which. Does this sound logical or did I possibly do some damage to an oil line? I know I did'nt come close to any of them while I was tinkering but who knows.

Tommorow, I will start the valves. Say a prayer.

Did you remove the lower valve covers too? They will drip a little bit. Where did you jack her up? I'd say you're probably ok, though. Unless you keep a rag under the filter when you unscrew it, it will drip a little too.

I tried using the factory jacking points, but then I could'nt slide my floor jacks under the torsion tubes. So I ended up using the factory jack and just cranking up each side and sliding the jack stands under the torsion tubes. I guess I really know when I fill the car back up with oil and start it.

Thanks,
Michael
