Where to send my Weber Carburetors for a rebuild?

I am looking to see who all rebuilds Weber 40IDA triple throat carburetors? I have a set off my 68 911T and they are leaking around the throttle shafts and just need gone through from sitting so long. I know the Motor Meister rebuilds them, but I was checking to see if there is someone closer that can rebuild these carbs or what experiences people have had with having their carbs rebuilt. Thank you for the help.

Performanceoriented.com.

His carbs are works of art and worth the prices charged. If you check the Porsche web forums, I don't think you'll find many good reviews of Motormeister. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

These carbs are now old enough that they need a total rebuild, not just new gaskets.

Eurometrix may be an option as well. Used to be the go to place in the old days. Under new ownership now.

I've used everybody in the game from Eurometrix, to Performance Oriented, to Bieker, and to ************.

My recommendation, though, would be Kurt at ************ for a few very simple reasons:
1) price
2) timeliness of service
3) quality of the job
4) he's a GREAT guy who is as much an enthusiast as he is a professional.
5) ease of transaction

I don't know what Thatch is saying about Eurometrix being under new ownership now ... Matt Blast has been THE guy doing carbs and throttle bodies for decades.

I can attest to the quality of work from Performance Oriented. Check out the website and decide for yourself. The only issue is timing, as he is scheduled out to December 10th!
My Webers had worn throttle shafts and a few other issues, where all resolved with the rebuild. The car runs stronger than ever, and finally, no smell of gas after I park the car in the garage!

You are asking for someone 'closer' to send the carbs to, but don't tell us where you are located.

I've used performance oriented for a set of 46mm webers that had been thoroughly (and somewhat) randomly modified over the years, had worn shafts, in fact one shaft was a different diameter than the other, had various bypass and progression modifications done without much rhyme or reason.

Paul at performance oriented restored these to stock, and the car has run great. His commitment to service and perfection is incredible and his website shows, he isn't afraid to share his extensive knowledge.

I've also recently used parts klassik for carb parts, and was very pleased. Kurt was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, able to expedite things at a reasonable cost, and communicated throughout the process so I knew what to expect and when.

Either way, you are in very good hands with these guys

I spoke with Norbrert Eberhardt a few times in the 80's. Eurometrix was in Campbell California then. He was a very nice man to deal with and I know he has since passed away. I assumed they were under "new" ownership now, but apologize if my assumption was incorrect.

In any case, I'm sure they are a good option for having your carbs rebuilt.

You might want to check out the following thread before even considering MM. And if you do a Pelican search for Motor Meister, you will find thread after thread saying the same things.

Performanceoriented. I never knew how good my 911 could run until I got my Webers back with a level II rebuild. Fantastic, and worth any waiting.

MotorScheister? Forget them.

Matt was trained by Norbert and was phased into the business while Norbert was still with us. Used to live close to Norbert In Silicon Valley, and had him rebuild my throttle bodies years ago. Matt is a true next generation craftsman, following in Norbert's footsteps. We need more of this in the 911 world today.

+1 on Kurt at ************. Great guy to deal with and very good. I also found alpha1750 on eBay to be very good on the 40IDF's for my 912 Weber parts, Solex parts items in ALFA1750'S CARBURETORS PARTS STORE store on eBay!, but not close unless you are in Italy.

Thank you for all the responses. I will do some research on the companies that you all have recommended and go from there. I am definitely glad I asked before shipping them off to a place with bad feedback from many people.
