Chicago Roads

I visited Chicago in June and may end up moving there. I have lowered my car to 25 1/2" in front 25" in rear (measured from the ground to center of wheel well). I was wondering if any of you Chicago based Pelicanites have there car lowered to this height or lower and use it on the street. The roads seemed pretty rough (pot holes and asphalt build up). Will I have to raise the car back up to use on street?

Also any suggestions on a nice area to look for a house?

Thanks

Jeff,
I've had a pretty aggresive spolier for some time, only slight scraping on driveways, but no problems driving on streets.

Are you looking for city or suburbs? Kids or No kids, space or no space, etc...

Happy to help...

Chris, thats great news, I really didn't want to have to raise my car back to original height.

I am looking in Suburbs, I do have Kids, Space would be nice (but I've noticed housing is more expensive in Chicago than Phoenix).

I've gone to realtor.com and have found suitable houses but I don't know what cities are nice and which ones I want to avoid. We are looking for a newer community if possible. So far I've been focusing on Gurnee, Mundelein, Barrington, Naperville and Deerfield (but it seems Deerfield is a little overpriced, correct me if I'm wrong).

I see you live in Naperville. My wife grew up there and moved to deerfield before we met.

Thanks

Jeff,
Commuting would be a consideration too ...
(It takes me about 30 minutes from Naperville to the Loop via Metra-Express)
Naperville is known for its great schools and family-friendly environment (District 203/204) - Barrington and Deerfield also have great schools, however, houses are really expensive.

As for front spoilers... I learned the "hard way" to watch for curbs

Good luck,
Esther a/k/a Chris' wife

Jeff,

Sure thing...

We just moved into Naperville from CHicago about 1.5 years ago and like it. More space and peace... Prices are still pretty high out here, but it seems to be getting better (at least more houses on the market longer)

Here's the spoiler

Chris / Esther,

That is great - A family love for the P-Car. My wife also loves driving ours. Great looking car.

Does Naperville have newer houses, It's been 20 yrs. since my wife lived there (highschool).

As far as commute. All I need is a phone line (I work out of the house) and my wife is in sales and the territory she is interviewing for is everything north of the 55, so we could live anywhere (in her territory).

Jeff,

Most of the south end of Naperville is new construction... If you're wife hasn't been here in a while, she'll be shocked to see it. Just about anything you can imagine, from smaller 2-3 bedrooms up to, well, blatantly excessive.

We happen to like the northern half and older homes because of the atmosphere in the older neighborhoods, and still some good new large homes going up around here too.

Prices are really all over the map right now...

Plenty of high-speed internet providers in the area as well. I work in sales also, but plenty of time in the home office..

Since this is a bit O.T. you can e-mail me separately at cstreit@interaccess.com
