Rubber O ring -thermostat

There appears to still be a trickle of oil from the thermostat even after replacing the rubber o -ring. Motor is a 73RS MFI type. Should I try another O ring? Any ideas or first hand experience appreciated. Thanks!

I've had the same problem..if you are talking about the thermostat on the top of the engine case.

Our host sells two, one green and one red.

I used a green "O" ring and the thermostat glided in with no effort..and it leaked oil.

I used the red "O"ring..the thermostat took some mild effort to install..(lubed of course) and has not leaked a drop of oil.

Same part numbers..different results.

I would try another "O" ring different color. I would not use any sealer. They don't leak with a good "O" ring in them.
