Window felt/fuzz......

My 83's window felt/fuzzy chingadera is falling apart. The Pelican site doesn't have a reference for the cab until '89.

Can a generic piece be sourced at the local parts store?

Do you have a pic of what is "falling apart" on your car or the part number of the piece that you mention Pelican doesn't reference till 89.. I replaced every piece of trim for doors and top when I redid my 83 cab years back.. Maybe if I see what you need I can dig through receipts and try to find a part number.

Passenger side fuzz has deteriorated to the point that it now pokes up outside the window channel.

The door panels are a PITA to remove for inspection, looking for a been there done that testimonial.

My ride turned 30 this year and it look as if the doors are the area of need. Handles and pockets last month....

No BTDT testimonial, but I would bet the felts for the front channel are the same as for the back and would fit with a little trimming.
John Walker posted on doing the fronts a while ago, maybe he's done the rear ones as well.

Am out of town till Friday but when I get home I will check and see what I can find. I replaced all my window felt and scrapers when I had my car painted few years back. I am assuming you need the horizontal fuzzies/felt at the window opening by the top of the door and not the vertical ones that go in the window guide channels inside the door.
I think this is what you are looking for, but I could be majorly misunderstanding what you need....

Vertical, under the rubber scrapers.

83-911SC cab 08-27-2013 01:19 PM

OK sorry about that..from where I saw it poking out the door I figured it was the horizontal one below the window scraper..I can not remember if my vertical window guide in the rear of the door had a replaceable insert or if it was integral to the metal piece.

timmy2 08-27-2013 02:11 PM

The PET shows it as a single metal piece. If it were me I'd risk the $6 each and try to fit the one for the front in there.
Maybe it is glued in there like the early vent window frames were.

Your errant piece sure looks like the horizontal piece/water seal that clips onto the door, just under the rubber scraper. Pop off the metal trim w/rubber insert, and you'll be able to see it. Lower the window all the way and you should be able to pop it loose, or at least cut off the stray end.

Mine did that, and as evidenced by their advanced decrepitude had been in bad shape for some time.

Inside the door was clean and nice though, so rather than pay $100/side I decided to go without.

83-911SC cab 08-27-2013 04:15 PM

Pete that is what I thought it was also from where it comes out down the door a bit..

Reifle 08-27-2013 07:12 PM

When I was looking into what was behind the rubber piece (scraper) the felt strip just crumbled! I ordered new ones and installed with a host of new rubber pieces and seals etc... Turned out to be quite easy to do. Also not very expensive!

timmy2 08-27-2013 09:43 PM

Joe Bob, some black shoe leather dye or fabric dye will make the cloth covering the rubber that is grey, black again... :)
