Will the 964 model become an orphan?
Will the 964 model become an orphan?
I had this thought. Unlike earlier cars that can mix and match years, the 964 shares so few parts with other 911s that I wonder if both the manufacturer and the aftermarket may neglect it resulting in undrivable cars? Thoughts ? |

I hope so! Let the values fall more so I can rush out and buy one
![]() I think they already represent great value in an air cooled car. Roger

Remarkable!
Unlike so many other threads, responses to this thread are so upbeat it is refreshing! No jabs at each other, no name calling, no negativity. Isn't there at least one crusty 964 owner out there to try and ruin my day? :-) |

Maybe if we sell our older cars and get in early we can start a buying frenzy!

Are C4 cars even worse. I'm looking at a car that has had some abuse and hoping to get a new project soon. What would be cheap price for one? Anyone that is really familiar with C4 964 cars gimme a call..706-392-2580 Thx Mark

I would pick up another one if I had the extra $$ laying around.

964
I've actually heard that they are becoming desired as they are a great platform for doing a backdate to the long hood look (ala Springer).
If the right one comes along, don't be shy about picking it up.

I'd say that there are too many parts shared with the 993 for the performance parts market to ever be a worry. The 993 will never run dry.
Mark- C4's are great! Approaching bullet-proof from my experience and anecdotes from lots of other owners. You can search the usual boards for issues, but awd failures are typically rare one-off occurences. But parts for all of the 964 series are expensive- a project car can quickly cost more than starting off with a better example.

I would choose a 964 over a 993 every day of the week.

I'll have one C2 please. Actually I'm shopping for another car right now. It's come down to a Ferrari GTB with Webers or a 964. The 964 would absolutely be the most useful of the two.

It's way better looking. Classic 911 with more modern stuff under the hood.

Used to drool over and want a 993. Now I really love the "older" look of my 964 C4 widebody. Rides nicer than my longhoods, but looks like a "true" 911. I have faster and more hard core, but the 964 is a great car in its own right!
