I love my lift tables!
![]() I also use them for motor and trans removal and mating. Best to do this when the children aren't around.

If the kids aren't around, start to finish under 2 hrs. It's all in the prep. Actually just the removal of the motor and trans after everything is disconnected about 15-20min going slow not to catch anything on the way down.
Pulling the motor was the easiest part. Using two lift dollies to separate the motor and trans is really nice. You put one dolly under the motor and one under the trans with a little gap between the two to get to the clutch arm and done very quickly. Then just separate the two and roll them away. These pop up on craigslist fairly often and you will save about $100 over what HF sells them for.

WOW 15 min, you should put your time here What is the fastest drop Engine time did you guys have?
How do you do it? - leaving on grey dolly and just drop motor/tranny with 2 yellow lifts? Quote:

Once everything is disconnected. You position one lift table under the HE's and lift the table to make contact with the HE's. Take out the trans support bolts. Take out the engine support bolts. Lower the engine a little, a little more. Clear any obstructions. Lower it some more. Clear any obstructions or cables. Lower and keep lowering until all the way down. Make sure the engine is stable with the trans. I strapped it the first time to the handle and roll it back and out from under the car. The first time I did not have the car high enough and had to raise the car. The second and third time it was no problem.
It's disconnecting everything that takes the time. A friend of mine can drop one from start to finish in about 90 min. Crazy. I think there are some that can drop them faster on an early car since you don't have the electronics and all the hoses for emissions.

Matt,
Your forgot to tell them about the Unobtanium method. Works better on un-even ground, which you have to factor in when working in the field. And before anyone asks "Why save cars like that?" The A Coupe that isn't smashed in the front, that sat in that same spot since 68, won the 1300 race at Daytona in the 66/67 season. ---Adam ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had thought of using an hoist for getting a dollie. I need to build a dollie like that for moving out back and storage.

We have a small wheeled dollie we use for moving cars onto our trailer, but we had to build these crazy ones to get bare bodies onto car carriers, they had to be overbuilt with 6X6's and the largest casters I could get 12" with no flat tires. But it worked, they all made it home. But if you are just moving a car around you don't need to go to this extreme. ---Adam

I would be moving it around in the dirt and road base. The little casters don't like the road base rocks.
