Fresh air blower and wiper reversal...

Here we go!
Tackling the gremlins with my new to me 89 Targa.
First up: Frunk Fresh air blower. Pulled it out, jumped it two different ways and nothing...dead dead dead as we say around here. Checked our hosts parts and I can get the new blower for $200, or a new motor for $100. What's the best way to go? Is this a common problem with these cars? I also see there's a motor rebuild kit for $26....never rebuilt a motor, but...

Next: Wiper reversal. 101 Projects says this is a one mechanic job, but for the life of me that fresh air housing blocking the wiper assembly access seems like it's riveted up top. I went through the Bentley steps (101 must be for SC's), and that housing is solid. Any tips?

Footwell blower stays on all the time, going to go pull that now...

Thanks

Nick

Wiper reversal can be done thru the gauge holes. BTDT.

I did my wiper reversal by removing the clock and tach.

I found motor attached to impeller with no way to separate! So got complete replacement $200, worth it on time and aggravation saved. Impeller has balance clips attached, don't lose them!
Also, same time, you might want to replace the air flap valves.
PM me and I'll send pics ( are more than 2M). Hope this helps.

Thanks.
I thought the $200 blower was the way to go...

Now on to the Footwell Blowers....Drivers side stays on constantly, had to pull fuse in engine bay to shut it off. Passenger side has blown fuse, but I'll bet it'll go on constantly too when I replace the fuse.

Could the resistor be causing this, or am I destined for a a wire trace back to the switch?

I just replaced the blower motor in my '85 a couple of weeks ago. While kind of a pain getting the old shaft out of the fan, it's not difficult. I say save the bucks and just get the motor.

PM me if you need help - the trickiest for me was getting the wires back on in the right locations - mark them!
