84 Carrera warning relay location?
 

Smoked something behind the dash when I removed a broken overhead light fixture (Targa) which grounded. Lost power to the light (both door activated and always on). The glove box light still works.

Bentley shows the warning/clock relay grouped behind the oil gauge with 3 other relays, but there are only two there - windshield washer, I believe, and turn signal (already replaced). In 84, the power window relay was on the main fuse panel.

Anyone know where it's located? Warning system still works so it must be somewhere.

Also, is the relay not likely the potential problem if the glove box light still works?

The clock relay (not really for the clock... just a timed buzzer relay for the seatbelt warning light) is located directly behind the fuel guage. If the door buzzer is working you should be able to find it easily by listening for it. It is grounded to the door switches, as is your dome light, but it does not supply power to your interior light. The power to your dome light is shared with the clock, glove box and trunk light and they share a 5amp fuse. If you've got power to your glove box it's not the fuse. You could have smoked your + lead to the dome light but one would hope the fuse would have protected it. Unless you actually disconnected the + terminal and touched it to metal you shouldn't have caused a short. I would start by pulling out your dome light and checking the + lead for 12v. It should always be hot. It's just the path to ground that is different for door activated vs always on vs never on. Maybe you just blew the bulb by coincidence?
If the hot wire to your light is melted it is not easily accessible to replace without stripping out your interior, so lets hope that's not it.
