1977 911S electrical issue

Hi Guys,

Recently bought a 1977 911S, started cleaning up some of the issues from the PO. Lots of electrical wiring was just left from the removal of an aftermarket AC system, aftermaket fog lights and an alarm system.

After removing some of that mess I find myself not having an interior clock or any interior lights... Looks like I removed a bit too much stuff. Now the wiring diagram says that the these systems should be on fuse 1 of the second block (in the '77 case). And that it should be fed directly from the battery, is that a correct assumption? I don't what to fry any thing. And what is the color of the wiring going into the fuse panel from the interior of the car?

Cheers,

The fuse feeding the clock should be fed directly from the battery. If the fuse is good then you might not have the brown ground wire connected. I am taking a guess here since '77 is a little different from my '73, but I believe it is the forward first fuse, black wire to the clock jumping to the interior lights.

Thanks for the help.

Might have to double check everything, on the diagram it shows a black wire as you mention from the fuse to the clock, but on my 77 it's a blue wire... I have might have to trace it! Diagram shows other side of the fuse red cable to the battery... Thats the one I'm missing, I did run a temp cable to check but the lights did not turn on... It did work before I removed the AC cabling!

Anyone with a 77 that can take a peak for me on there car?

I can't be certain since the '77 is wired differently than my '73 and I don't have access to the diagrams. Fuse 1 on the first block should be black for interior lighting. The only blue wire would for the headlight, with the next fuse blue/white for the other headlight. Pictures of your set up would help.
Also, sometimes you don't see a red wire connected to the terminal since it is fed with a strap on the rear of the fuse block from an adjacent terminal.

Good to know about the rear straps, I will pull the fuse panel out and take some pics!

Thanks again!

Found solution to problem by tracing back black wire from clock to fuse panel, PO had moved the wire to a different spot on the fuse panel, rectified the issue, now I have lights working everywhere.

Thanks for the help!!
