Connector ID Help needed...
So on my 85 Carrera, where would one connect these two plugs? The larger one seems to have a rubber through panel bushing on it which is a little nerve wracking.
Also, aside from these. Where is the ground on the motor in the left corner near the cabin air intake? I have a wad of ring terminals that need to be grounded somewhere. Thanks in advance all!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378262650.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378262662.jpg |
I'll tackle the last one first. You may be describing the injector grounds. They attach to the intake runner on the left.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378268689.jpg The large connector looks like the main harness connector - that should go on top of the firewall. (edit: near left shock tower) The smaller one eludes me - if it had 2 wires I would have guessed the blower fan. |
Dan has it correct on the grounds. No second wire on the fan motor connector is worrisome as it looks like only the ground is there and the hot lead is cut off somewhere in your harness!
The large connector is the 14 pin main engine harness connector and goes to the fuse panel area. |
Picture for you:

Oops - Thanks Dennis

No problem Dan, I went back and counted the 14 pins and then noticed the grommet neck that slides into the fuse panel. The Bently on PDF is nice to have too! :)
I'm more concerned about not seeing the yellow with black tracer wire to his heater connector. Flick the heat switch and there is power in the wire, wherever it is? |

I'll look into the 14 pin connector, but it does appear that it is the main wiring harness plug. the rubber fitting is a dead giveaway after looking at the picture. One problem is I have it coming out from under the intake at the firewall which is a little misleading. I'll take a shoot at re-routing it. |
