It's the 911/83 engine but......

Hi guys,
We would appreciate your input before we get too excited and ordering parts.
The engine is a 75 ROW Euro Carrera.
The magnesium case looks pretty bad to me.
The engine number 6650588 is almost invisible.
I don't have any clue what inside will look like.

Does the engine case repairable?
Or should we keep the stacks and fuel pump then ditch the rest.
Thanks
Burint

We have to save it!

Fingers crossed it hasn't migrated down through to any mating surfaces.

I hate to think what the car looks like if the case is this bad! And if the car is 'gone' and this is a donor engine, you could seriously look at a genuine replacement case. There are at least 2 for sale right now - one in Japan and one in Germany.

^^
You have another PM

The Japanese one is a 7R....sorry it will not have the 911/83 number but here's the link anyway

ポルシェ 911 2,7L 7Rマグネシウ クランクケース - ヤフオク!

Thanks 91133 for the links, just wondering, does the 2.7rs engine shall the same casing or engine block as 2.7 CIS engine?

The reason why i ask is that we have a couple of them lying around.

I have also just secure a 2.2s engine and matching 901 gearbox as well!

Exciting is a bit of an understatement right now :)

The case shown in the Japanese link looks like it has a serial number so it would not be a factory replacement case. Those would be blank with no stamped serial number.

Yes, a 911/83 7R case is the same case as a 2.7 CIS 7R case (not sure if there are MFI pump mounting studs on the CIS case though).

I bought the engine "as is", the previous owner obtained the engine for a few years until the flood hit Bangkok 2 years ago.....so the engine was in the water for a few days before being "rescue"

When I got the engine, there was mud, snail shells and all sort of leaves attached to the outer engine

I believe the car was long gone.....don't think it is in Thailand

update :)

Its time to do something about this engine....

Getting it clean, and ready to send back to Germany when it all started, i guess no engine is not repairable, right?

Pictures tell a thousand words :Dhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1435050814.jpg
