Electrical Portion of Ignition Switch Replacement
I was having ignition switch problems. As I walked up to my car the CDI would be humming with no key in the car. Other times the car would continue running after I pulled out the key. Lastly, there was a time or two when I'd go to start and wouldn't have any fuel or spark. These were all extremely intermittent problems and would only appear once or twice a week.
I decided to try the cheaper solution and replace the electrical portion of the switch. I soon discovered that this replacement was harder than I thought. For the past few weeks I've been running with the new switch dangling underneath the dash. I have not experienced any of my ignition problems since, but I'm getting sick of starting my car with a phillips screw driver. My problem is accessing the top screw that holds in the electrical switch. Does any one have any tips on replacing the switch without having to remove the mechanical portion, i.e. drilling out the sheer bolts and etc...? Thanks,
