Boge Struts best option for replacement inserts?
I have a 74 Targa and the front and rear shocks are totally toast. Wanted some thoughts on the best replacement options. I see that both Bilstein and Koni make replacement inserts for Boge Struts. Anyone care to offer a opinion on which route to go. Sport of Standard? Keeping the front and rear same brand style. Do people often adjust the Koni's or just run a setting and leave them alone. I looking for a performance street set up.

At Steve Weiners recommendation I installed Bilstein HD struts and sport rears. They work great.

Second the Bilstein HD front and sport rears
The adj konis are ok but you would probably end up running the fronts on full soft and the rears on hard remember ,the harder the susp front and rear, the bigger and stickier the tires have to be and vice versa. |

I run the same front rear setup in a 69 912 vintage racer. Works good.

I see the rears part number 24-009751 offered in green and yellow is there a difference B/T these to color for the sports?

I think yellow are sports. I have a 73 Targa and for years ran the Koni adjustable red gas shocks, they were perfect. My rears started leaking so I installed Koni Sport adjustable rears. To hard for a Targa. I still have the red fronts. I don't know how the Bilstien compare to the Koni's but I would stay with the HD's front and rear, (Bilstien). The coupe can take a stiffer shock, the Targa needs a bit softer shock.
I wouldn't go wider than 6 and 7 on the wheels. New tire compounds are way stickier then they used to be so you don't need bigger tires unless you really increase HP.

I installed Bilstein Sports in both the front and rear. When I did that several years ago, I was only doing autocross with only a dabbling of DEs but now exclusively track stuff and I love them. You'll find that the Sports will give you a very planted feel while driving. The one thing I would caution you on is be prepared to have the ride height readjusted after doing a shock upgrade because the new shocks will definitely raise the body of the car after being replaced.
