steering wheels
I don't like the steering wheel on my 73. Will the wheel from a 964 fit?? anyone have any ideas where I can look for a nice wheel?? Diameter is too big for my tastes. I know splines were changed but that started w/ 993 correct??
It for sale in the classified section if you need one. |

Don't think that a wheel from a 964 will fit (personally don't think it would look right in a '73 car either) - splines changed after July '74 & then again on introduction of the 964.
Go for an aftermarket leather wheel instead - 350mm to 380mm is about the ideal diameter. Check out previous threads on 'favourite' steering wheels - Momo Prototipo, black leather Nardi etc - lots of nice photos. I have a nice wheel up for auction on ebay. You can see it in the pelican 911 classifieds.

I have a very nice Nardi alloy with wood rim and horn button (the diameter that I think you are looking for) that I removed from my 914..you would need correct hub for 911 shaft.$150

Go Momo..They are nice..I think the 350mm is perfect for aggressive driving...The bus wheel is oem but not as effective. My .02 worth 1.

The stock Porsche 3-spoke that came on mid-70 to early 80's cars would look great. I replaced the stock 4-spoke on my '89 with a 3-spoke for the retro look.
I got a leather recover kit from AGLA and put a Wheelskins under it, so now it's extra thick. You can get them cheap on Ebay. I think I paid $45 for the wheel.
