What to do with Webers??
I just picked up a 1973 2.4 that has Webers. The car has been sitting outside for several years. The Webers don't look too bad once I took off the air cleaners. I know the springs are pretty rusty. I am not a mechanic (I know, then why did I buy an older Porsche) and am thinking about selling the carbs. I don't want to mislead anyone on their condition. Anyway of telling if they are worthy of a rebuild? Thanks!

Nah they are no go. Send them to me.
Kidding! I would just make them like brand new. They will be awesome when rebuilt. Regards

Keep the webers. What else are you going use. Easy to clean and rebuild. Just take your time and don't force or over tighten anything. Carbs make glorious intake sounds. When you are done you will have a coveted "longhood." Posting your location helps to garner nearby help. And would be great to see more pics.

MFI will cost more than refurbing the Webers; it will add a few ponies; add cold start and cold running abilities; but also add considerable wt. slung out over the rear end of the car

Ditto; Keep The Webbers
Restore the carbs. I had MFI on my 73 2.4 and it was not fun to drive until it warmed up. Tuning was also an adventure. There were some SMOG legal carbs back in the days when a 73 required SMOG in CA. I got an SC motor & CIS parts back in the day when MFI was not desired. However, check you motor number to see if you have a numbers car. If numbers matching, looking at buying an expensive MFI unit to go with the car may make sense. Best of luck.

One option is to sell the Webers and buy a set of PMO's. Once tuned, they run great and need very little maintenance or tuning. I sold my Webers and they paid for the PMO's and had a few hundred dollars to spare. The Webers were 46mm and are in high demand for historic racing as they cannot use PMO. Its something you may want to consider.

On the other hand authentic Webers may have better historic value at some point so they may be worth keeping around.

Have them rebuilt. Several good rebuilders out there. Can be pricey from $1200-$1800 but worth it. Good luck.
