997 ims

Looking for a 997, but want to avoid the IMS issue.

The 997 M97 IMS was a larger unit than the predecessor and requires engine assembly to replace.

I believe that the whole IMS design was removed sometime in 2008 or 2009.

Does anyone know the exact time? Was it based on the model year 2008 or 2009?
Can the engine number be of use in determining whether there is the IMS or not?

Thanks.

You may want to try the 997 forum this is the 911 forum for the older air cooled cars, it can be found here

As far as I have read only the 996's were plagued with the IMS issue and that it was worked out when the 997 hit the market but I dont know this for sure.

Regards
Dave
