Rear seats
I have several questions for my fellow pelicans (pix to follow):
1. My rear seats do not have the snap ended leather pieces and during my quest to find these, I have found multiple lengths. Which is correct? Short intermediate ? 2. Also found locking bar pieces in the pp catalog but unsure if mine require this? 3. While searching the forum for child seat anchors etc, found multiple posts (old ones) referencing three point belts from PEParts. However, they appear to be no longer in business. Does anybody have another reference? This is my dream car that my long suffering husband bought for me. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm not sure on the leather lengths, but you can retrofit a newer set of 3-pt seat belts in your car. It should have the mounting locations underneath the rear parcel shelf (speaker shelf) that you can bolt the newer belt assemblies to. Are you fitting child car seats? It's a real pain. Very few of them fit. I've yet to find the right one. Supposedly the Britax Marathon is a nice, tight fit.

I'm trying to fit boosters as my kids are 3&5. I did find some interesting belts at seatbeltsplus.com that are manually adjusting 3pt. Like that I can "cinch" them in. I think my back seats are missing a locking mechanism. So I'm gonna dig into that next...
Thanks, Leah |

I took some photos for another pelican with measurements. My car is an '86 may not be the same. I'll say that once my seat backs are up there is just a tiny bit of slack in the leather stay.
Rear Seatback Strap? The retaining pins require a different middle seat back mount (that receives the pin). It's not a bolt on the change this. The inner hinge mount is welded in. Easy enough to retrofit factory three point belts from a later car. My '86 did not come from the factory with rear three point belts but the mounting hole was already present in the rear shelf. I don't know if your '82 will have that or not. Others have bolted in upper mounts by drilling through the rear shelf and using a large washer as a backer inside the engine bay. There are a number of good threads on this update if you search. Frankly I've given up on the Pelican search function and simply google my search terms followed by (site:forums.pelicanparts.com) -J Rear three point seatbelt retro fit possible in 78-83 SC? A plea for help - 86 to 89 Rear Seat Belt Upper Bolt Location Back seat seat belt and kids on 1980 911sc

I just looked at your photos again. You have a partial leather strap on the seat back. The length is set so that when the seats are down the seat back strap snaps down on the snap in your photo to keep it from flapping and rattling. The other half of the strap in held in by one of the two upper mounting screws.
If multiple lengths are sold it would be easy to buy the longer of the choices and trim to fit. -J

Once upon a time, Porsche offered child seats. No idea if they are still available, but you might look through the PCA classifieds.
If you plan on nobody riding in the back of the car other than the kids in the car seats, you might also consider removing the seat backs altogether, depending upon what car seat you finally choose to use. I'd probably use the existing lap belts in conjunction with a properly anchored tether strap, rather than installing 3 point belts. JR |

Thanks for all of the info. I couldn't visualize the strap arrangement and couldn't find any mention of it in the owners manual that I have. Now I can get what I need to stop the annoying seat flopping when cornering (sans kiddos). The only reason I wanted to install car seats is that both of my kids "love Mom's new car" and I want to pass on the family fascination my dad passed to me. So thanks for all the help!

My son is 7 yrs old. His booster seat did not fit in the rear. I spoke with a cop, he told me that it was fine to have him in the front seat. If your kids are younger it might not apply to you. Just my .02.
