Posting this for a friend who has an 82 SC Coupe. He checked the ride height in the rear and found that his has been lowered. He wanted to raise it to the European height. I believe he told me it was 25" from center of wheel to fender. He loosened the nuts on the spring plate and said the torsion bar dropped down. He now has a problem because he cant get it back to the original height. Any ideas what he should do?

I thought 25" on the rear fender IS "Euro-height".
I have 25" rear and 25 1/2" front. Good Luck ------------------ Nick Hromyak '85 Carrera 7 & 9 Fuchs Havin' Fun in Sacramento |

When you adjust the ride height you also change the alignement and balance of the car. Either way your friend will have to take the car in for at least an alignement. My suggestion is to take it to a wrench who knows his stuff, have him adjust the ride height, do an alignment and corner balance. It should cost a little over $200. It may sound like a lot for such a job but it is well worth the money. I just had my car done after many attempts to adjust ride height. The difference in the way the cars rides and corners is night and day.

Bill, what *nuts* did he undo? Does he have the factory adjustable spring plate? If so, he should be able to use a 36mm wrench and turn the eccentric bolt to raise it back up.

$200 for corner balancing, rear ride height adjustment (removing and repositioning rear spring plates), and alignment!!! Alignments cost as much as that alone.
