checking floats on webers
Hello to all.
I am attempting to tune my car and am checking the float level for my weber carbs before I adjust the air mixture. I have a small brass hand tighten screw with a plastic tube on top and am assuming its the float level meter. It has two sets of double lines on the tube. I am guessing they are low and high points. Well, I only have checked the one so far , and its riding on the bottom line of the top set when I turn on the fuel pump. Is this ok? should they all be set at the same, and how does one adjust the level? Should they all be exactly the same? I see two points of measure on each bank. The car is a 70 2.2 t Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated as I am a new owner and have little experience. |
From my experience anywhere between the 2 lines is fine. Adjust one of 2 ways. 1. Put spacers under the needle valve or 2. slightly bend the tab on the float. I use method 2. Bending it up shuts the valve off sooner, for when the level is too high. Bend down opens it up sooner. I then mount the top back on the carbs with a couple screws, drain the bowel and try it again. Fortunately you only have to do the once in a long while!
