Another 911 SC power Window mystery
Newbee here with a new(ly acquired) car - 1980 Porsche SC coupe. I've looked thru all available posts and have had no luck pinpointing my problem - I wonder if anyone has power window experience who can help me key into this problem.
My passenger side power window goes up and down with driver's side switch, but with the passenger side switch, the window only goes down. I swapped out the passenger side switch for a new one, and the problem persisted -- window rolled down but not up, had to use driver's side switch to roll the window up. I took the door apart last night and felt around for blockages or for loose wires, but didn't notice anything - of course I was just thrilled to get the door back together! I'm wondering if having 2 of the wires accidentally switched around by mistake could cause the problem. Any info would be appreciated. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378942123.jpg |
I've had a similar issue with the passenger window on my SC (would go down but not up, rather surprising when this happens at the wrong time). My issue was fixed by cleaning up the contacts at the rear of the passenger switch. As you know by now, it just pulls forward from its home in the door panel. Check this first, measure to make sure you have power and ground to the correct pins etc.

Don't forget to put in some kind of moisture barrier before you button it back up. I use 2 garbage and black duct tape. This will prevent water from creeping into your interior door panel during rain.
Unless, of course, you are one of those guys that doesn't drive your car enough. |
