Washer Types Listed in PET

I searched but did not find this topic discussed already. Does anyone know how PET assigns flat washer labels to washer types?

For example, I would like to purchase some replacement 6mm fasteners. PET usually does a pretty good job of listing the type and size of bolts and nuts. And if the washer is some sort of locking type washer, that is usually listed clearly as well.

However, for the various flat washer types PET simply lists "washer" for the description followed by one of several different size labels. Here are some examples for 6mm washers ("6,4" is the 6.4mm ID):
  • 6,4
  • A 6,4
  • B 6,4
  • 6,4 X 14
  • 6,4 X 14 X 1.5 - ST

From what I have been able to tell so far, "6,4" refers to a standard 6mm flat washer (12mm OD). And I believe "B 6,4" refers to a 6mm fender washer. Can somebody confirm this? And what type of 6mm washer is "A 6,4"?

Thanks

- 6,4
- A 6,4 according to DIN 125 A
- B 6,4 according to DIN 125 B
- 6,4 X 14 inner X outer diameter
- 6,4 X 14 X 1.5 - ST inner X outer diameter X thickness (no idea about ST [steel?])

DIN = Deutsche Industrie Norm
It's just a guess about A and B, but would make sense.

Thanks Manfred - that would seem to make sense.

However I see that DIN 125 A is for a standard flat washer (6.4 x 12mm), and 125 B is for the same ID/OD as 125 A, but chamfered. So "6,4" and "A 6,4" in PET would be the same?

DIN 9021 B appears to be for a fender washer (6.4 x 18mm). So since the 32 fasteners that attach the fenders to the chassis use the larger fender washers, and these are listed in PET as "B 6,4", I assume the "B 6,4" refers to DIN 9021 B instead of 125 B (although that could be easily misleading).

I once went through this sort of thing with electrical connectors. I just ordered one of each type, to see what they were when they arrived.

As I said, I'm guessing. An your guess is as good as mine ;-)

FWIW, if anyone comes across this thread and is looking for a source for the serrated Schnorr washers they can be found at McMaster. They are listed as 'Belleville Spring Lock Washers'.

McMaster-Carr
you can also jsut go down to fastenal and buy a bag of 50. you can also get the proper length bolt for the CV joint. there should be a few threads that stick out past the flange.
