Unhappy Today sucks!!!

Just when things were going right and I couldn't be happier, get in the car, turn the key and.......... Nothing!!! Starter is whacked!!! Not sure exactly what went but whacking on the solenoid didn't free anthing up and nothing seems to be wrong with the ignition switch so it's off to the wrench to the tune of $300 again!! Even worse I downloaded an app today that allows me to browse this B.B. on my Palm Pilot.. I will never get anything done at work and anticipate to be out of job shortly because of it!!!!
Yours in misery,
Pete

You haven't lost until you sell, may be an opportunity. Lotsa bargains out there.

Did you bypass the selenoid and apply power directly to the starter motor. It may be that the selenoid valve is bad. Check it out.

Thumbs up

I had the same experience a couple of weeks ago.
Finishing this and that, heading for a drive, turned the key-nothing.
I guessed the starter as well, but several friends (911 owners) told me, its most likely NOT the starter! These things go bad very seldomly in comparison with everything else!
In contrast, all suspected an electrical (ground) problem.

So I followed several hints, incl. swapping batteries, wiggling each connections etc.
1) the 14 pin connector in the engine compartment was one culprit. Lost of cleaning, and the starter would turn slowly.
2) changed batteries, the problem was less, but still no starting.
3) after another couple of hours, I found out that the terminal of the batterie's ground connector had a crack from the bottom, leading to a non-proper clamping on the battery terminal. Bought a new one-car runs like a champ.

Just one possibility, but a good one!!!

I hoped to get similar experiences on the stck market, but

Jens
