Seat Rail Bolt for 3.2 Carrera

I have looked in our host's catalog to no avail. Where can I purchase a new bolt for my seat rail?

Thanks so much.

Pull another one and try your local hardware store for the same length and thread.
Metric!

I've gotten mine from my local Ace Hardware store- Grade 10.9 too.

Cool! I was under the impression that the head of the factory bolt was smaller than standard.

ACE - Here I come.

Thanks so much, guys.

I think it is a special bolt, the head is shorter. Not to say you can't take a standard allen head and grind it shorter yourself for an acceptable substitute. I don't think you'll find it locally.
You might look at McMaster Carr on-line. They have a huge selection. Get it in your hand and you'll see the issue.

McMaster-Carr Might be these, called a metric "low head".

McMaster-Carr #93070A145

Low head cap screws have a wider head to make up for the thinner head, lets you keep the torque rating equal. So, taking a normal bolt and cutting the head down is NOT an acceptable practice.

Problem is the packs are 50 screws, so you'll end up with lots of extras.

I've had good luck with Fastenal. There is one within a couple of miles of where I live. The guys there don't seem to mind my buying 3 or four bolts, washers, etc at a time. I haven't had to pay shipping on orders delivered to the store for non- stocked items. They carry 8.8 and 10.9 spec hardware.

Pelican carries them. Look in the PET for the part number and plug it in the search function. The ones for my car are: 900-119-030-02-OEM

Linky:

Pelican Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW

It matters what kind of seat you have. Power or Manual, with spacers or without. So look in the PET for YOUR seat. The bolts are shoulder bolts, Not fully threaded. If you get one that's too long you can't tighten it down. Ask me how I know...

I use a grade 10.9 button head bolt. The head is short enough to clear the upper seat track and it's not soft like the factory bolts.
