H1 or H4 - what do I have?
May sound like a dumb Q...
One of the front lenses on my car is cracked, and I'm about to replace it - BUT - upon closer inspection I notice that the left lens reads "H1", and the right one reads "H4" How can I tell what kind of headlights I have? (I wouldn't go on model year alone trying to determine this, since my car has seen so many "modifications" over previous owners...). as always, appreciate any input :p |
Bo,
The H1 will have two seperate halogen bulbs (one for hi and one for low beams). The H4 will have one dual filiment bulb (combo hi/lo). Bruce |
The H4 has 2 adjust screws on the chrome ring,
The H1 has 4 GeorgeK |
Just to add...
Regarding the lens itself: I believe the H4's will have a "pebbled" finish on the top edge, while the H1's will be all clear. ;)

If it turns out that you have a mismatched lens and reflector assembly ... you need to get that lens replaced ASAP with a correct one! The beam pattern will be unfocussed with a mismatched relector and lens!
