NoVa Pelicanhead Fun Run #2
OK guys, based on the success of our first Northern Virginia Fun Run back in June I think it is time to organize our next event.
Which weekend date in September works better for everyone? Sat 9/14 Sun 9/15 Sat 9/21 Sun 9/22 Note: I think early Sun morn would be better for traffic considerations. In September the first weekend is out because we have a PCA tech session and the last weekend is out because we have the PCA Club race at Summit Point. I was thinking of maybe a little longer run this time followed by a lunch somewhere. Once we have a consensus on the date I'll put together a route and off we shall be. Hopefully with more notice this time we can have an even larger turnout than the first time. See you soon...

Hi Doug E,
My order of preference would be Sun 9/22 (best), Sat 9/21, Sun 9/15, Sat 9/14. I may not be around the weekend of 9/14-9/15. Thanks for organizing this Doug, it should be a lot of fun.

Doug,
Any of those dates works for me. Btw, how's Marc doing this weekend - does he need any help? Chris. |

Allright, first 2 votes are in.
Chris - not sure what Marc's plans are for today but he is pretty much all set to go next Saturday for the installation. We did the valves Friday night and then he and Richard finished up a few loose ends yesterday. Hope you can make next Saturday to meet the group of us.

Hey Doug and all the NoVa guys,
How many of you guys are really interested in a drive day over here in WeVA? I haven't forgotten about you guys and as a matter of fact, last weekend I went out and drove the route I think would be great for a drive. And it was. We had talked about meeting in Charlottesville and from there the route goes like this: Rt.250 west through Waynesboro and Staunton up to Monterey. Rt 220 south to Warm Springs. Good place for lunch there. Rt 39 south through Goshen Pass to Lexington. Rt 60 east through Beauna Vista to the Blue Ridge Parkway. BRP north back to Rt 250. This is about a 3 to 4 hour drive depending on stops etc. . If anyone wants to do this one let me know what dates are good and I will do what we need to set it up. The weekend of 8/24 I won't be able. Rob |

Hi Rob,
I'm interested. Next weekend is booked as Marc's 3.2L goes back in then, but after that my weekend schedule looks good. How about either 8/17 or 8/18?

Rob - sounds like a great route but unfortunately I'm booked through mid Sept which is why I was trying to schedule the next Fun Run then. Hope it comes together and we'll talk soon.

I'm in for just about any Sunday morning before the last one in Sept. I'm afraid of how much trouble I'd get into while driving a long highway stretch to Charlottesville.

Doug E, my neighbor with a beautiful red 996 might also join us.
My only possibility of missing this is if you find out how to get into my garage. No 3.6L transplants for you, buddy!

Doug, if you want, I'll hold off on this till a later date. I was looking forward to you being with us. If you don't think you'll be able, we'll shoot for the 18th. Hopefully Marc will have his 3.2 in operation by then because I'd like to see him too. I know he's been working hard on it because he hasn't been on here! Richard, it's just too bad we can't use radar detectors! Jim, bring your neighbor if he'll come and put a couple of pit bulls in your garage! Anyone who wants to come is more than welcome so let me know who will be there and I'll get you some details. Doug, let me know if there is a better time so we can include you. If there is, I'll reschedule. Let me know everyone!
Cheers, Rob |

I'm in for either weekend. BTW, If you want to do a longer drive, we should head out towards Front royal. Lots of hills and probably good roads. Its not too far out. Just a thought

guys,
The silver 930 will be on the road with you all! I have the P&C's and heads on now. Cams in this week, new ring gear too. The engine should be back in the actual car by Aug. 20, whoohoo! Week of Sept 14 works best for me. ![]()

Geez, John. I was about to start comparing you to Nostatic, what with you having no Porsche for so long. Well, at least there's a Porsche in your garage. I'll be happy to see her running. Keep us updated on your reinstall. I have two of these under my belt now and wouldn't mind helping out with yours.

Yeah, I know. You've been through several in the time I did just this. Work has been getting in the way. Good thing too in this local economy (I am a telecom guy). I've been waiting on Wayne's second book!
Lately its been almost too hot to work in the garage ![]() Best

Hello Everyone,
I am the neighboor that Jim Richards spoke of, and you bet I will be there! Just let me know when and were. I know John Baily also from a past company "NAS". So John if you need help with the Turbo, I would love to help also. Hope to meet you all at the event. Tom ![]() |

It looks like we need a 964 to complete the 911 family tree for the NoVA fun run. Any of you NoVA 964 owners willing to join the fray?
And lets not forget about our 912 friends!

Rob - Thanks for the consideration but unfortunately work and family obligations will have me tied up until the mid-Sept dates I threw out there. Hopefully we can hook up sometime later this fall if you aren't able to make our mid-Sept Fun Run.
Jamie - are you a mind reader? Part of the route I am considering takes us out near Front Royal. Tpourro - welcome to the board and we look forward to checking out your 996 soon. Anybody else have a date preference ?
