Front sway bar bushing question
I recently purchased a 22mm bar and its bushing to go where my 20mm bar used to be on my 81' SC. When I went to install it I noticed that the bushings are exactly the same in diameter (in the center) as the ones my 20mm bar used to go through. I am finding it difficult to squeeze the bar into them and the ones that go toward the center of the bar, which are clamped it, the bushings are kind of open, giving them a slightly "Pac-man" type look, is this normal? I double checked all of the numbers and they seem to match up correctly

Yeah, I have ordered rear bushes for my87 from several suppliers incl the dealer and the same thing.....basically it seems that one size fits all......what I ended up doing was using a Dremel drum sander to slowly open the diameter so that it closes all the way around. And use silicone grease.

Ahh ok, so I'm not crazy!
Sounds like a plan, thank you:) |
I guess my other question would be how tight is too tight a fit or does it really matter? I have a tough time getting them started to spin on the bar. With the lubrication they seem to move without alot of trouble once I get them moving, but if they sit they are pretty difficult to move. Also the bushings on the control arm are tight enough it was difficult to get the bar out with only 1 side of the bar in.

Wil be doing this upgrade shortly, so do I need to order four 22M bushings when I change them out correct.
