Small White Square "Cap" Found in Door

I took apart my door today to fix the broken door lock actuator shaft that is so prone to breaking. In doing so I found this little square, white piece lying at the bottom of the door:


The closest thing I could think of that this might be for is the end of the window actuator track.

Can anyone tell me what this is and if it's "important"?
