Clutch Squeak Help My clutch pedal has developed a bad squeak. There is a little brake fluid leak. I had the clutch cable replaced about a year ago. Nothing feels wrong with the operation of the car at all, it's just embarrassingly noisy. I cleaned out the pedal cluster area this weekend, and it seemed to quiet down a little, but now it's bad. I put some engine oil on the spring and where it connects just before this vid. It's been pretty cold here recently - in the 40's. Might the temp have something to do with it? It sounds like the squeak is coming from underneath the front of the car. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/QOJtsYwhnjA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Thanks for your comments |

Time to pull the pedal cluster out and rebuild it. JR |

Fix your brake fluid leak, then throw some bronze bushings in the cluster. Problem solved (for a long time). Good luck! |

ok, thanks guys, that's kinda what I was expecting. I've heard it takes the better part of a Saturday. with respect to the fluid leak, could something like that happen if someone put DOT4 in my brake system? I never had a leak until I had the brake fluid replaced a couple of months ago. I suppose it's possible they didn't block the brake pedal and the MC got damaged that way? I generally trust the guys who did it, maybe that's not the cause or maybe they just goofed. |
