Talking great forum. my "newish" 86

This is how it looked when I first got it. But, thank to the forum and its members, I have spent many hours and have sent many dollars to pelican to get it up and running.

1986 Porsche 911 Carrera grand prix white./ pearl white leather with navy carpet. 22.7k miles.

Many maintenance items done...need more.

Upgrades include: steve wong chip, mk cat bypass, llodys floormats(don't match perfect), extended hub steering wheel, momo tall shift knob, coupler whisperers bushing, secret shifter, rennline black pedals.......more to come.

Best upgrade. Secret shifter/coupler.

Nice looking car! Love the GP white on white interior and wheels. Visit Leatherique for some touchup dye for that driver's side seat bolster, and some rejuvenator fluid for the rest of the leather. Leave the cellular phone as it sits, it just fits the car and goes to document the simplicity of the era.

Thanks for comments. I dyed the bolster and some of the piping . Used leatherique oil on leather. Looks and feels much better. I will list all the work I have done so far and areas I want to address, soon. Long list. Haha.

Congratulations and nice looking car! Btw, what brand is your cellular phone and model? I would like to know what they put inside as an option, if any or I'll just buy a vintage cellular phone and mount it in. Does it have mounting on it or its just placed on top of the heater lever? I was curious and wanted to search if somebody is selling theirs. I already bought the cellular antenna whip which was missing and adding those would be cool.

It was called radiant. I removed it because I kept knocking the headset of its holder and the installation was second rate. It was like a novelty since it was not in working order. Unfortunately I threw it away.

Dealer installed options were always whatever they could make the most profit on. There was never a "pre wired" for cell phone option on Porsches in those years. Most manufacturers that had a prewired for cell phone option went either with Audiovox, Panasonic, Fujitsu (which was also used by Alpine ) Oki, and Motorola.

BMW, Mercedes and even some American cars (Chrysler New Yorker if I recall) came pre wired for specific brands.
