Newbie question - ignition coil in an 84 3.2

This may be a stupid question, but this part on the left side of the engine bay does not look like any ignition coil I have seen in pictures or part replacement catalogs. Furthermore, it is installed on top of the fuse panel cover rather than in the small section in front of the fuel filter or on top of the alternator fan housing. Does it look familiar to anyone? Is it stock? Thanks in advance!

That is a siren for an aftermarket alarm system.

Ok I took a closer look and the ignition coil is actually where it should be...tucked in between the fuse panel and fuel filter so my bad. However, the part depicted in the picture is definitely a mystery to me. Anyone else?

Ha, that makes sense! It is odd that the previous owner disconnected the alarm system, wiring, and left the carcass of the key pad in the glove compartment, but yet left the siren and it's wiring behind.

Thanks for the part identification!
