Wheel question and desired input
An acquaintance is offering me some Fuchs look-alike 16x9 rims, but hasn't come up with a price yet, so I'm hoping to get some advice. I don't know what brand they are, except that they are at least 7-10 years old, were made in China, an have a weird 'JW' stamp and PCD 13 stamp amongst the other mandatory stuff.
They are straight, but I have no idea of the potential quality. I know that isn't much info, but any help, and idea of value would be appreciated. Also, I'm currently running stock 16s on my 87 Targa, what is that 6 and 7?, with spacers at the rear. This guy says he would put my rears on the front and these new rims on the back. If any of you have run this setup, I'd be interested to know how the car performed. Thanks, 72T |
The 16x9s would fit fine on the rear of the '87 and should be OK for street use barring any flaws, etc. The bigger question is tire size and availability. The standard size for this wheel in this application is a 245/45-16 and the choices are pretty limited these days.
With the questionable pedigree and lack of tire choices, I wouldn't put a huge amount of money in these personally, but don't know that the real value is... |
Be very sceptical on anything made in china they are not exactly known for their production quality. I once took a set of china made rims to a wheel specialist to redrill the bolt patten, he took one look at em and said -sell that crap and buy quality rims, cant weild or machine them without that cheep alloy cracking!
