Solved: High idle - drops when engine lid opened
 

I don't get it???

My '80 SC has a high idle of around 1,600 - 1,800 rpm when warmed up.

I had dropped the engine recently and fixed all air leaks, so I'm pretty sure there are none left. Today I have removed the decelleration valve and plugged the open lines. Still high idle. The AAR works as it should, going from open when engine is cold to closed with the warmed up Motor.

What's crazy is that when I open the engine lid, the idle immediately drops to 900 rpm. It only needs to be opened an inch to drop the idle.

Any idea what the problem may be?

Problem solved,

my SC in an AC and CC car. The AC condenser in the engine lid pushed down on the cruise control bowden cable which lifted the throttle slightly causing the idle to rise. When the lid was opened, the bowden cable was reliefed and the throttle closed completely.
