Anybody up for a group dent removal?
Just asking, because they do come up every now and then and I've missed the last one. With a group it would be much more affordable.

It would be nice to get some more people to see if we could get a discount. So far a couple of people I use are charging $100.

Here is the dent that I would not mind getting fixed. But it has been there for decades. I hope it is fixable. Maybe we could show pictures of our dents to the dent repair men and get their opinion.

Call your local dealer and ask them when their paintless dent removal guy stops by. Larger dealers especially with used lots have a trusted tech swing by weekly or so. Show up with cash and ask him for a deal. I've done this twice, both times around $50 and both dents were similar to porwolfs.
Also keep in mind PDR only works well with stock paint jobs with orange peel. If you've forked out a lot for a perfect paint job the results will not be acceptable. It also helps if you have a buddy who works at the lot or salesman that has made a few bucks off of you on previous sales to get your foot in the door. I've done the same thing on little interior repairs as well.

If you shop by price, you'll get what you pay for.
Secondly your dealer's pdr guy maybe awesome, but chances are he's not - idiots that hack up dents for $50 have forced most good techs out of the dealer lots (thank your dealer for passing on the "savings" to you) and do retail work or hail. Which leads me to my next point, a good pdr tech doesn't need to hide in orange peel. The reason factory paint is preferable is because it is generally more durable and better bonded to the metal than what body shops spray on, yes even the good ones. Look for the best guy in your area, it's worth it. Ask around, do some research, pdr techs range from hacks to artists - find an artist, pay him what he's worth and no, unless it's a very simple and small dent $50 ain't it. Be sure to let whoever you hire know drilling is not acceptable (a good tech won't even suggest it..,but a dealer wholesaler does it all the time...again, get a good tech). As far as pictures, take them in the shade with a reflection of something with straight lines crossing the dent, do it from two angles, straight on and about 45°, from a few feet away. Hope this helps, this is a field with a lot of misconceptions and masquerading, be sure you don't let just anyone work on a Porsche ![]() And a little off topic, it never ceases to amaze me how cheap people (not pointing fingers, just general observation) are, in a very penny wise pound foolish fashion. I guess without that the term "previous owner" wouldn't reach it's infamous implication whic lurks more often than not when it is uttered... Anyhow, I hope this helps in some small way and stops some of the misconceptions and myths that seem to abound around pdr. |

I know two guys. One by the name of Steve who has done a group discount and is mentioned here and on a number of other sites(Ferrari to name one). Another guy I have used a few times works out of a car wash and has been there a long time, I don't know if he will do a discount.
I tried a dealer lot and they have a guy whose there all the time, so I know there's no deal to be had. I haven't called any more lots. When and where? What prices are we looking at? I am still very much interested. Do I need to remove the inner panel to get access from behind to my door ding?
Okay, here's the deal. I just got off the phone with Steve and he says as long as he has at least 5 cars, he is willing to do $60. per panel. He is located in El Segundo, but he does travel, we would have to pick a central point that is convenient with everyone concerned. If we can confirm at least 5 cars, we are good to go.
