Needed Heathkit ci1080 Gas Analyzer Manual

I have a Heathkit ci1080 CO Gas Analyzer with no manual and looking to see if I can get a copy for the use/care/calibrating of it.

Can anyone here help?

TIA

Terry

Thanks for the link Bob.

That is the tester I have. Now I know more than I did before, I see I need some kind of extension tube from the sensor end to extend into the exhaust pipe. Looks like some kind of flex tube as in BX electric wire or public phone handset wire surround. When back home I'll need to measure the id if the knurled knob connector.
Good info on calibrating, I'll have to do that and than find someway to double check to a known CO source in that range. It is an older tester so if any of the circuit is aged it maybe would not be 100% correct.

I have one of those! A hand-me-down from my father, and it works pretty well. Handy for tuning carbureated engines that don't have an O2 sensor. Not as fast responding or detailed as a wideband sensor like my LM-1, but a handy tool to have in the toolbox for basic troubleshooting and some fine-tuning.

If you need pics or measurements from mine, let me know.

I remember that old Heathkit tester. Pretty cool back then.

I would use a modern wide-band sensor type AFR instrument. they are ver accurate and can storee data analysis. With units like the Daytona Sensors Wego IV, you can record AFR, RPM, and vacuum, and store up to 2 hours of testing.

Our host sells these units and they are a real good value for carb and MFI calibrations.

You can directly convert AFR to CO.

I've had this for sometime but never needed it until now. Just no instructions for use, the link from Bob is the best I've seen yet. I searched the net but never saw that one. It is enough to get me started or in trouble.

Mr Project, can you send me a pic and measurement of the flex tube that gets inserted into the exhaust? At first it looked like the way it has the aluminum shield and sensor the whole end would insert and rest on the exhaust pipe but not so. Thanks to the link.

I have a month before I'll get back to the car so I have time to get set up. This is a road car only so hopefully I can sort out my fuel system, tune and go.

Thank you guys

Terry

Heathkit CL-1080 Manual download link

I just purchased a Heathkit CL-1080 and it didn't come with a manual, but I've just downloaded it from here: mods.dk -> Instruction, users and service manuals for

I had to sign up, but it was free so no big deal,

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks Jon, got it down loaded, great find. Just need to do something for the flexible connection from the sensor to the exhaust pipe, have some ideas but man that exhaust can be hot.

Thank you, the last piece of info and now I can finally use it. I'll shop around for a similar connector tube. I'm away for Thanksgiving and in Mooresville (Race City USA) N.C. and have seen something similar used for Hot Rod lighting where the light housing is separate from the body like on old pick ups and 20/30s cars.

I'll post my results.

Thank you guys for the manual and tube info.

Terry
