Black Stoneguard Material Source
 

Guys:
I need to find a source of 3M-style Stoneguard material as used for the BLACK pieces for a Turbo.
Stop...please don't advise where to buy Turbo pieces, I need something larger, and don't advise about clear Stoneguard, I have that info already.
I have searched literally a hundred vinyl graphic supply places, and other sources...but can't find the thick black material as used for 930 Turbos.
Anyone?

Not exactly what you were looking for, but I bought a roll of black magnetic vinyl sheeting and made my own stoneguards. Stay on fine and if I do lose one, who cares, just get out the scissors again. Nice to be able to remove them for washing, polishing, or if I get tired of the look.

It appears to be close to what you're looking for, although I am not familiar with this specific product.

Wil, i don't know if you will be interested in this but i found this material that is real carbon fiber , encased in a vinyl material. It comes in colors and w/ adhesive back. It can be warmed and formed over compound curves such as a fender or hood. It is expensive but depending on what you are doing might work. I am giving away one of my trade secrets but here is the co.

How wide is the material you need?

My application is very much like the Turbo spats, but Im trying to cover a nasty stone-chip that would be located right "above" the area that is covered by the normal Turbo sized versions. To those who asked what size I need...I recall that i would need to start with a square or rectangular sheet about 15" wide and 16" tall....and then cut shape to fit.

Hey, your the spring plate guy. Nice, informative article by the way. Sorry to get off the subject, but I was going to email you this question. All things considered with you spring plate angle engine, if you wanted to set your car even lower then Euro spect height for track use, want measurement would be the equivalent? I plugged in an approximate measurement and it really threw off the ratio (Went for 21-21 degrees to 10-11). Thanks.

Yes, I'm the "Spring-plate guy"...Ahem....inventor of the Ferch Constant (tm) ...LOL !
If you plug in a lower value than default Euro 3.8"....it'll calculate the new starting spring plate angle. It's fairly accurate if you input known, good values ( weight, weight distribution, etc..)
Let's start a new thread about this. In the meantime, see Thom Fitzpatrick's web page, where he took my long-hand calculation methods, and developed a simple spreadsheet. I couldn't stand having someone say they had to re-index the rear bars 4-5 times to get the ride height correct. The 911 platform had been around for over 30 years, and no-one developed a "method" to calculate this?? Argghh! So..I just applied some mental hp and simply DID it. Seems to work, let me know how it goes for you.

I agree with jyl, magnetic vinyl. But, peel them off to avoid paint damage due to sun + moisture. Cheap, can look nice and will stick at speed. If you loose one, no biggie.
